Repair and Restoration

We can repair and restore your existing sash windows to their former glory. Our team will remove old sash frames, belt-sand them, and plane the edges for ease of movement. We will then fix and repair any rot, strengthen the frames, and re-balance the frames back in the boxes with new draught-proofing beading, cords, and furniture.

Thermal Insulation

Our thermally insulated sash windows provide a significant reduction in heat loss and noise pollution. Our new sash frames can be single or double glazed, with toughened glass for added safety and energy efficiency.

New Sash Frames

We can provide new sash frames in your existing boxes or make new boxes and frames from scratch. Our frames are spray painted, and we supply new furniture as standard. We can also match the same horn and design as your existing windows.

Draught-Proofing

As windows age, the sashes may begin to sit awkwardly in the frame, creating gaps around the perimeter and allowing air to escape. Our team can install full weather stripping to ensure your windows operate more efficiently without altering the appearance of your window.

Security

We can fit extra security lockable sash fasteners to prevent unwanted entry. We also fit Weekes End stops that allow the window to be left slightly ajar, preventing sashes from sliding past each other while allowing ventilation.

About Sash Windows

Sash windows have been around for hundreds of years, with the oldest surviving examples dating back to the 1670s. Sash windows are made of one or more movable sash frames that hold panes of glass, which may be separated by muntins or glazing bars. The traditional arrangement has three panes across by two up on each of two sashes, giving a "six over six" panel window.

Our team of small but dedicated carpenters have many years of joinery experience, making windows and general bench joinery. We are a small business with many advantages, including being more innovative and responsive to our customers' needs.

Our History

Neil Dickson, our founder, has over twenty years of experience in cabinet and sash window making. He has run workshops all over London and Belfast and started Belfast Sash Windows 12 years ago after returning home to Belfast.
